Việt Connect
Child Safety Standards
Việt Connect is a language-learning app with live practice calls, rooms,
messages and a tutor marketplace. We have zero tolerance for child
sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse
material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion and any sexual or romantic contact with a
minor. This page explains the standards we enforce and how to report a
concern.
1. What is prohibited
- Creating, sharing, requesting or linking to any sexual content involving a person under 18 — real, drawn or generated.
- Grooming: building trust with a minor in order to sexually exploit them, asking a minor for images, to meet in person, or to move to another app.
- Sexual or romantic messages, calls or behavior directed at a minor, and sextortion of anyone.
- Lying about your age to get around the age rules below.
Breaking these rules means an immediate, permanent ban of every account we
can link to the person, removal of the content, and a report to the
authorities (see section 4).
2. Age rules, enforced on our servers
- The app is not for children under 13. Accounts we learn belong to a child under 13 are deleted.
- Every account gives a date of birth, which is stored privately and never shown to other users.
- Users aged 13–17 can use the learning features and homework from a teacher, but cannot use Quick Match, cannot create or appear in public rooms, cannot go live, and are never listed as “online now”. These limits are checked on our servers, not only in the app, so they can't be bypassed with another device or client. Accounts with no birthdate on file are treated as under 18.
- Live calls are peer-to-peer and are not recorded by us. Recording a lesson requires everyone in the room to agree and shows a REC indicator to all.
3. How to report
- In the app: tap a person's name — in a room, a call, a chat or their profile — and choose Report. You can also Block them, leave the call at any time, and remove participants from a room you host.
- By email: erick.e.keene@gmail.com (subject “Child safety report”). Include the person's display name, where it happened and the time. Don't send us illegal images — describe them instead.
- If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police first.
4. What we do with a report
- Child-safety reports are reviewed first, within 24 hours. Accounts reported by three different people are suspended automatically until reviewed.
- We remove the content, permanently ban the accounts involved, and keep the information the law requires for investigators.
- We report apparent CSAM and child exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through its CyberTipline, and to the relevant authorities where the user is located (in Vietnam: the Ministry of Public Security, Cục A05), and we cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement.
5. Designated child-safety contact
Erick Keene, operator of Việt Connect —
erick.e.keene@gmail.com. This
contact can speak to our CSAE prevention practices and compliance, and answers
law-enforcement and app-store enquiries.
